About Me

Salmon-60.jpg

My name is Hayley Salmon and I’m 28 years old and a freelance photographer specialising in newborn, baby, family and event photography.

At just five years old, my photography switch was flipped when I was given my first bright red digital camera. Since then, I have been developing my ‘photographer’s eye’. I am a BA (Hons) Photography graduate and at university I explored many types of genres such as portraiture, documentary, studio, night, street, landscape and product photography but a prominent and recurring theme in my work is family photography. I just love documenting the beginning of new lives and families by capturing that special moment in the baby or parent’s lives - catching the truly memorable expression. I think it’s more important in this mobile phone age for professional photographers to create classic images that will last for generations, and to create an image that makes you stop and think wow! Producing photographs that the parents will treasure forever gives me a thrill that I never tire off.

One of my greatest passions is creating pure, natural and beautiful portraits of newborn babies in the first few weeks of life. It really is a privileged job and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of so many lovely family lives. Childhood, especially the sleepy newborn stage, is very fleeting and the early weeks with a baby go by in flash so capturing a snippet of time can’t be underestimated. I have been DBS checked and have been fully trained in newborn photography. I capture gorgeous images of little ones in a safe, beautiful and individual way. I have taken hundreds of newborn photographs in both maternity units and studio settings, gaining much experience in comforting and soothing babies.

My newborn, sitter and cake and smash shoots allow me to develop my creative side by developing every aspect of the shoots (the outfit, the cake, the balloons and the props) while we all have fun in a relaxed environment. I do love working with children and they certainly make you think on your feet as no two shoots are ever the same!

Besides my love for photography, I also love travelling, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), a great mocha, good movies, cocktails, shopping and chocolate.

My home studio is based in Wokingham. For questions, comments and bookings you can contact me via the contact form on this website.
